Jiwon Kim is a visual artist whose creative practice spans mixed media, including photography, video, archiving, and installation. With a keen eye for logical errors and societal conflicts, she ingeniously challenges and reinterprets outdated systems, authority, and traditions through her unique perspective and wit.

Having previously honed her craft in Germany, she currently resides and works in Seoul, South Korea. She won the Documentary Photography Award from the Wüstenrot Foundation in Germany (2017) and has been named Artist of the Year at KT&G Sangsangmadang Korean Photographer’s Fellowship (2024), alongside her inclusion in the MH Talent Portfolio at Museum Hanmi, Seoul (2024).

지원김은 사진, 영상, 아카이빙, 설치 등의 혼합매체를 기반으로 하는 시각 예술가로, 주로 사회에서 발견하는 논리적 오류와 충돌을 다루고 있다. 특히 제도와 권위, 전통의 구태의연함을 작가만의 위트로 개입하거나 비틀어 제시한다.

독일에서의 활동 이후 현재 서울로 이주하여 작업하고 있다. 독일 뷔스텐롯 재단의 다큐멘터리 사진상(2017)을 수상하였으며, KT&G 상상마당 한국사진가 지원 프로그램 SKOPF 올해의 작가(2024), 뮤지엄 한미의 MH Talent Portfolio (2024)에 선정된 바 있다.
